Das Debütalbum der Progressive Rockband STREETMARK digital remastert!

Gegründet in 1969, zur besten Flower-Power-Zeit, war die Band zunächst jahrelang live unterwegs. Die Ur-Besetzung zur Entstehungszeit von „Nordland“ waren Georg Buschmann (vocals), Dorothea Raukes (keyboards), Thomas Schreiber (guitars), Hans Schweiß (drums) und Wolfgang Westphal (bass). Bernd Schreiber, in den Anfängen zunächst als zweiter Gitarrist in der Band, wechselte ans Mischpult und war später Mit-Produzent des Albums. STREETMARK spielte bis auf einzelne Ausnahmen (siehe Eleanor Rigby oder Italian Concert in rock oder andere Passagen in den Stücken) eigene Kompositionen, die der Zeit entsprechend rockig waren. Dabei waren die Songs aber nicht nur unterschwellig von der Klassik beeinflusst. Thomas und Dorothea konnten beide auf eine klassische Ausbildung zurückgreifen und die musikalischen Ideen passend umsetzen. In den Soli des Albums kommt dies deutlich hörbar zum Ausdruck. Und dem Zeitgeist entsprach es auch: so waren Procol Harum, Emerson, Lake und Palmer, Deep Purple und ähnliche Gruppen Vorbilder für die Band, ohne diese jedoch zu imitieren.

Umgesetzt wurde die Produktion von „Nordland“ dann mit Conny Plank in seinem Tonstudio in Neunkirchen. Mit dem neu gegründeten Hamburger Platten-Label „Sky Records“ von Günter Körber erfolgte dann unter der Bestell-Nr. 003 (!) die Veröffentlichung. STREETMARK blieb übrigens auch bei den weiteren Veröffentlichungen dem Platten-Label Sky Records treu!

Besonders ist das Cover von „Nordland“. Die Band hatte von jeher eine besondere Beziehung zum Norden. So ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass sich diese Vorliebe auch in den Songs wiederspiegelt. Der Titel „Amleth Saga“ erzählt die Geschichte von Hamlet, einem jungen Prinzen in Dänemark. Ihm gibt der Geist seines toten Vaters auf, Rache zu üben an seinem Bruder, der zuvor den eigenen Vater ermordet hat. In der Künstlerin Helga Bartkowiak fand Günter Körber eine Frau, die das Geschehen in ein wunderbares Bild fassen konnte: Fahles Licht einer untergehenden nördlichen Sonne, das in einen Gletscher mündet und ein Drache mit seinem düsteren Ausdruck für das Drama der Geschichte ..., ein geglückter Versuch, Musik in ein Bild zu fassen!

Founded in 1969, at the height of flower power, the band initially toured live for years. The original line-up when "Nordland" was created was Georg Buschmann (vocals), Dorothea Raukes (keyboards), Thomas Schreiber (guitars), Hans Sweat (drums) and Wolfgang Westphal (bass). Bernd Schreiber, in the beginning as the second guitarist in the band, switched to the mixing desk and was later co-producer of the album. With a few exceptions (see Eleanor Rigby or Italian Concert in rock or other passages in the pieces), STREETMARK played their own compositions, which were rocky at the time. The songs were not only subliminally influenced by classical music. Thomas and Dorothea were both able to fall back on a classical education and were able to implement the musical ideas appropriately. This is clearly expressed in the album`s solos. And it also corresponded to the zeitgeist: Procol Harum, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Deep Purple and similar groups were role models for the band, but without imitating them.

The production of "Nordland" was then implemented with Conny Plank in his recording studio in Neunkirchen. With the newly founded Hamburg record label "Sky Records" by Günter Körber, the order no. 003 (!) the publication. By the way, STREETMARK remained loyal to the record label Sky Records with the further releases!

The cover of “Nordland” is special. The band has always had a special relationship with the North. So it is not surprising that this preference is also reflected in the songs. The title "Amleth Saga" tells the story of Hamlet, a young prince in Denmark. The ghost of his dead father tells him to take revenge on his brother, who had previously murdered his own father. In the artist Helga Bartkowiak, Günter Körber found a woman who was able to capture the events in a wonderful image: the pale light of a setting northern sun that flows into a glacier and a dragon with its gloomy expression for the drama of the story... successful attempt to capture music in a picture!
