Die großen Musiker-Kommunen wie Grateful Dead oder Ton Stein Scherben gehören zwar der Vergangenheit an, aber es gibt ein paar wenige Gruppen von Musikern, die diese Idee noch heute pflegen.

Der lose „Familienverband“ THE ELECTRIC FAMILY ist eine solche Gruppe von Musikern, die aus ehrwürdigen Namen der deutschen Musikszene besteht, darunter Hagen Liebing (ex-Ärzte), Burghard Rausch (Agitation Free), Ulla Meinecke, Rainer Kirchmann und Ingo York (beide ex-Pankow), Volker Kahrs (ex-Grobschnitt, Taras Bulba), Tex Morton (ex-Lolitas), Peter Apel, Anke Lautenbach (ex-Doldinger’s Passport), Rolf Kirschbaum (ex-Witt, Pachinko Fake), The Voodoo (ex-Phillip Boa), Hermann Lammers-Meyer und Tom THE PERC Redecker.

Auf diesem Album präsentiert sich die musikalische Familie mit einer Mischung aus Psychedelic, Trance, Rock & Folk in dermaßen bestechender Form, dass der renommierte amerikanische Rockschreiber David Fricke (US-Rolling Stone) sich spontan anbot, die Liner Notes zum Album zu verfassen.

Seit rund 15 Jahren erforscht THE ELECTRIC FAMILY musikalische Grenzen und begeht dabei immer neues Terrain. „Es gibt’s nichts Vergleichbares in Deutschland“, meint Musikkritiker Philipp Roser anerkennend.

Die Songs entstanden häufig als lose Konstrukte aus der Feder von Bandgründer Tom THE PERC Redecker, die im Kollektiv ihre Form bekamen und durch individuelle und gemeinsame Improvisation ihre Vollendung erreichten.

Dabei gelang durchaus ein Brückenschlag zwischen traditionsbewusster Musik und modernen Sounds – Die Bandmitglieder sind eben nicht nur fundierte Musiker, sondern auch interessierte Beobachter und Erforscher moderner Musik.

Ein Kuriosum des Albums: Ulla Meinecke singt erstmalig auf Platte einen englischen Text!

Dieses Album enthält als Bonustitel neben einer alternativen Version des Pink Floyd-Klassikers „Careful With That Axe, Eugene!“ zwei Mitschnitte eines Konzerts der Electric Family beim Internationalen Filmfest in Schwerin 2003. Der Schauspieler Mario Adorf war so beeindruckt, dass er nach dem Konzert der Band backstage seine Aufwartung machte.

The loose „family association“ THE ELECTRIC FAMILY is such a kind of group of musicians, existing of venerable names of the German music scene, amongst them are Hagen Liebling (ex-Ärzte), Burghard Rausch (Agitation Free), Ulla Meinecke, Rainer Kirchmann und Ingo York (both ex-Pankow), Volker Kahrs (ex-Grobschnitt, Taras Bulba), Tex Morton (ex-Lolitas), Peter Apel, Anke Lautenbach (ex-Doldinger’s Passport), Rolf Kirschbaum (ex-Witt, Pachinko Fake), The Voodoo (ex-Phillip Boa), Hermann Lammers Meyer, and Tom THE PERC Redecker.

On this album the music family is presenting themself with a mixture of psychedelic, trance, rock, and folk, in such an overwhelming way that the well respected american rock author David Fricke (US-Rolling Stone) spontaneously offered himself to write the liner-notes for this album.

Since about 15 years THE ELECTRIC FAMILY is researching musical borders and is still entering new territory. „There’s nothing comparable in Germany“ says music reviewer Philipp Roser appreciatory.

The songs often developed out of loose constructs penned by band-founder Tom THE PERC Redecker, which got their shape in the collective of the band, and due to individual improvisations all together the songs reached their perfection.

With this procedure they succeeded bridging between traditional music and modern sounds – The bandmembers not only are funded musicians but also interested viewers and researchers of modern music.

One curiosity on this album: Ulla Meinecke for the first time sings an English lyric on a production.

This album contains as bonus title besides an alternative version of the classic Pink Floyd song „Careful With That Axe, Eugene!“ also two takes of a concert of THE ELECTRIC FAMILY at the international film festival in Schwerin 2003. The actor Mario Adorf was so impressed that after the show he paid his respect backstage to the band.
