Sireena Records setzt die Auswertung des legendären SKY RECORDS Katalogs fort mit vier gesuchten Alben auf 2 CDs!

STRAIGHT SHOOTER war vor allem die Band des Sängers Georg Buschmann, der am 8.4.1948 geboren wurde. Seit 1971 gehörte er der Düsseldorfer Band STREETMARK an, verließ aber nach dem Erscheinen des Debütalbums „Nordland“ die Band, um sein neues Projekt STRAIGHT SHOOTER zu gründen. Ihm schwebte mehr „melodischer Hardrock“ in der Tradition der britischen Band Bad Company vor, nicht umsonst ergab sich der neue Bandname aus einem Albumtitel der Briten. Günter Körber, der Labelchef von SKY RECORDS, fand Gefallen an dieser Idee und schloss einen längerfristigen Vertrag mit der Band. Alle kommenden Alben von STRAIGHT SHOOTER sollten nun bei Sky Records erscheinen. Das Debüt „Get Straight“ erschien 1978 und war in der Besetzung Buschmann, Günther Striepling (Guitar), Hans Plankert (Keyboards), Roland Haase (Bass) und Peter Kegler (Drums) eingespielt worden. Ein ordentliches Debüt, das unter anderem eine Coverversion des Easybeats-Hits „Friday On My Mind“ enthielt, die auch auf Single veröffentlicht wurde und fleißig in den Diskotheken rotierte! Den Vogel schossen Buschmann & Co. allerdings mit dem Nachfolgeralbum „My Time – Your Time“ 1980 ab. Der gleichnamige rund 8minütige Titelsong gehört noch heute zu den gern gespielten Titel in den Rock-Dskotheken und Tanzsälen. Ein wahrer Klassiker, der STRAIGHT SHOOTER einen enormen Schub gab. Inzwischen hatte Friedhelm Misiejuk hinterm Schlagzeug Platz genommen. Vor den Aufnahmen zum dritten Album `Flyin` Straight` (1981) war Bassist Haase von Mark Wulf ersetzt worden und mit dem zweiten Gitarristen Frank Kobe expandierte STRAIGHT SHOOTER zum Sextett. Beim vierten Album 1982 `Rough `N` Tough` hatte sich das Personalkarussell bereits wieder gedreht. Für Gitarrist Striepling (der später wieder zurückkehrte) kam Peter Rabowski (g) (ex-Sinclair) und für Schlagzeuger Misiejuk trommelte jetzt Hansjürgen `Ceebee` Siebert (ex-Zeus). Obwohl die Band "nur so vor Power sprühte" (MUSIK SZENE), wurde sie von den Medien nach wie vor weitgehend ignoriert, erreichte aber mit ihrem traditionellen Rock- Konzept beachtliche Verkaufszahlen" (ROCK IN DEUTSCHLAND).

Für das fünfte und finale Album `5` (1983) orientierten sich STRAIGHT SHOOTER auch an durchaus zeitgemäßen Sounds. In die LP, die "von überdurchschnittlicher Qualität" (MUSIK SZENE) war, ließ die Gruppe Disco- und Space-Rock-Elemente einfließen. Als Besetzung waren nur noch Buschmann, Striepling und Plankert aufgeführt. Am Synthesizer saß jetzt der Toningenieur Charly Schade (ex-Abacus) und als Schlagzeuger fungierte zwar noch immer Siebert, aber die Rhythmus-Sektion sollte laut Bandboss Buschmann zukünftig nur noch aus Gastmusikern bestehen . Der Wechsel zu mehr NDW-haltigem Rock erzielte nicht mehr die gewohnten Verkaufserfolge, und so lösten sich STRAIGHT SHOOTER im selben Jahr auf. Georg Buschmann verstarb 2021!

Sireena Records continues the rerelease on CD of the legendary SKY RECORDS catalog with four sought-after albums on 2 CDs!

STRAIGHT SHOOTER was primarily the band of singer Georg Buschmann, who was born on April 8th, 1948. He had been a member of the Düsseldorf band STREETMARK since 1971, but left the band after the release of the debut album "Nordland" to found his new project STRAIGHT SHOOTER. He had in mind more "melodic hard rock" in the tradition of the British band Bad Company, and it is not for nothing that the new band name came from an album title by the British band. Günter Körber, the head of the SKY RECORDS label, liked the idea and signed a long-term contract with the band. All upcoming STRAIGHT SHOOTER albums should now be released on Sky Records. The debut "Get Straight" was released in 1978 and was recorded with the line-up of Buschmann, Günther Striepling (guitar), Hans Plankert (keyboards), Roland Haase (bass) and Peter Kegler (drums). A decent debut, which included a cover version of the Easybeats hit "Friday On My Mind", which was also released as a single and was busy rotating in the discotheques! However, Buschmann & Co. shot the bird off with the follow-up album "My Time - Your Time" in 1980. The 8-minute title song of the same name is still one of the most popular songs in rock clubs and dance halls. A true classic that gave STRAIGHT SHOOTER a huge boost. In the meantime Friedhelm Misiejuk had taken a seat behind the drums. Before the recording of the third album `Flyin` Straight` (1981), bassist Haase was replaced by Mark Wulf and with the second guitarist Frank Kobe, STRAIGHT SHOOTER expanded to a sextet. By the time the fourth album was released in 1982, `Rough `N` Tough`, the merry-go-round had already turned again. Guitarist Striepling (who later returned) was replaced by Peter Rabowski (g) (ex-Sinclair) and drummer Misiejuk was replaced by Hansjürgen `Ceebee` Siebert (ex-Zeus). Although the band "were just bursting with power" (MUSIK SZENE), they were still largely ignored by the media, but achieved impressive sales figures with their traditional rock concept" (ROCK IN DEUTSCHLAND).

For the fifth and final album `5` (1983), STRAIGHT SHOOTER also oriented themselves towards contemporary sounds. The group incorporated disco and space rock elements into the LP, which was "of above-average quality" (MUSIK SZENE). The only cast listed were Buschmann, Striepling and Plankert. The sound engineer Charly Schade (ex-Abacus) was now at the synthesizer and Siebert was still the drummer, but according to band boss Buschmann the rhythm section should only consist of guest musicians in the future. The switch to more NDW rock didn`t achieve the usual sales success, and so STRAIGHT SHOOTER broke up in the same year. Georg Buschmann passed away in 2021!
